Le Milan’s Prospero Editore is publishing a translation of Françoise’s book, originally published in 1998 and reissued by Le Diable Vauvert in 2023 in Élise Thiébaut’s Sorcières collection. The witch-hunt was not just a French phenomenon. Although it was less massive in Italy, the country was not spared from the misogynist plague: Triora and Benevent, the…

Le The paperback version of this title, published by Le Passager Clandestin, is out this April 5. As we’ve come to expect from them, the editors have done a fine job: pleasant cover, solid-looking binding, this is a well-made book. The 352-page content is identical to the previous edition. And it’s perhaps no coincidence that it…

Le Part four of this interesting (as always) Reporterre dossier begins as follows: We need to go on a “belly strike” and put an end to “phallocratic rabbitry”, as ecofeminist activist Françoise d’Eaubonne put it with her usual verve in Le Féminisme ou la mort. That was in the 1970s. For example, Africa as a whole…

At the helm are two fellow leading American academics: Danielle Roth-Johnson, head of the Gender and Sexuality Studies department in Las Vegas, who met Françoise in the late ’80s and integrated her work into her…

Le The English edition of Féminisme ou la Mort from Françoise contains a foreword by Carolyn Merchant, which I obviously read with great interest when I received the book. Carolyn Merchant resituates the work in the history of feminism and ecofeminism. Going right back to the birth of patriarchy, she recalls its responsibility in creating the…

Le Released in the USA at the beginning of March 22, it is a translation of Le féminisme ou la mort by Ruth A. Hottell. The afterword is by Carolyn Merchant. “The incendiary writing of the French feminist who defined ecofeminism – For the first time available in English” is the Verso Books tagline introducing the…

Le Le Féminisme ou la Mort has met with interest well beyond our borders. 3 translations are in progress: in the United States, from Verso Books, in March 2022; in Turkey, with Ithaki Publishing, by July 2023; in Italy, with Prospero Editore, by July 2023. In this newsletter on the contemporary resonance of Françoise’s thought, we…

Le Singer Thalie, who knows and appreciates Françoise, lends us a song that she performs, with the kind permission of the copyright holders of its author, Michel Tonnerre, whom we also thank. But what does a “sailor” song have to do with this site? Françoise was very attached to her Breton and maritime roots. A direct…
