{"id":1341325,"date":"2024-06-04T18:50:07","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T16:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.francoise-d-eaubonne.org\/a-thesis-on-lindicateur-du-reseau-de-francoise\/"},"modified":"2024-08-21T13:36:22","modified_gmt":"2024-08-21T11:36:22","slug":"a-thesis-on-lindicateur-du-reseau-de-francoise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.francoise-d-eaubonne.org\/Hypathie\/en\/a-thesis-on-lindicateur-du-reseau-de-francoise\/","title":{"rendered":"A thesis on &#8220;L&#8217;Indicateur du r\u00e9seau&#8221;, de Fran\u00e7oise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em> (photography : \u00c9cole des Chartes)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Monday June 3, Lucie Guillemer defended her thesis, <em>\u00c9dition de l&#8217;Indicateur du r\u00e9seau (1977-1980), topographic \u201cContre-m\u00e9moires\u201d by Fran\u00e7oise d&#8217;Eaubonne,<\/em> at the \u00c9cole des Chartes, which \u201c<span>trains students in the analysis and conservation of historical sources, the auxiliary sciences of history and the exploitation of data through digital technologies<\/span>\u201d <span>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chartes.psl.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Lucie, going back over Fran\u00e7oise&#8217;s biography and her struggles, drawing in particular on Isabelle Cambourakis&#8217;s excellent work published as an introduction to <em>Contre-Violence ou la R\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00c9tat,<\/em> proposes an \u201cEaubonnienne geography\u201d to analyze <\/span><em>l&#8217;Indicateur du r\u00e9seau<\/em>, <span>this distinctive autobiography written not chronologically but geographically, by station.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>By tracing the editorial history of this text, part of which has never yet been published, Lucie offers keys to understanding Fran\u00e7oise&#8217;s choice of this particular memorial form (for example, the potential influence of Malraux&#8217;s ant\u00e9m\u00e9moires on the form), and argues that it demonstrates authenticity rather than historical truth (her relationship to history being as personal as her relationship to geography).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The subject of my thesis obviously interested the teachers present, and I heard some interesting reflections on d&#8217;Eaubonne, so much so that I asked the author if they could be the subject of an article. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Following on from this thesis, the \u00c9cole des Chartes has expressed the wish that <em>L&#8217;Indicateur du r\u00e9seau<\/em> be republished in its entirety, with Lucie Guillemer&#8217;s critically-acclaimed apparatus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To be continued.
